I am learning about mushroom photography. So far, I've learned that I am going to get dirty and wet. I will also be crawling around a lot on my stomach. Its getting harder and harder for me to get up off the ground the older I get, so this type of photography is quite the challenge. You have to pay attention to plants that might poke you, and poison oak is always abundant where mushrooms tend to grow. I have to thoroughly clean my camera equipment and backpack when I arrive home. I change my clothes and shoes putting everything in the washer. I have to use a tripod and my camera is mounted on the inside of the tripod and upside down. I have learned to use the camera in the dark for my Milky Way photography, but to use it upside down, blind and backwards, this is a whole new required level of expertise.
Update: I contracted poison oak taking these photos. This has not been a pleasant experience.
